Tooth Restorations – Fillings, Inlays, Onlays, Crowns

When your dental care is from the Dentists @ Belmore team, you can feel secure that our top jobs will be to maintain your oral health and prevent potential threats to your teeth. In an ideal world, this would be enough to protect your smile. But in the real world, teeth aren’t always perfect, maintenance may be lacking, and sometimes fate intervenes in the form of a sporting or auto accident.

In any case, we know your teeth may suffer damage, and fixing that damage is where our dental team shines. Our dentists have extensive training and expertise in tooth restorations. As a result, we can work with you to choose the path that leads to a healthier and more beautiful smile.

Which Tooth Restoration Is the Right Choice?

Our dentists will assess your tooth damage using high-end diagnostic imaging technology to recommend the most appropriate and least invasive restoration. With multiple materials and designs to choose from, your particular situation will inform our recommendations.

In most cases, your restoration relates directly to a specific type of tooth damage:

  • Tooth Cavity – A result of tooth decay, a cavity is like a hole in your tooth. The most common restoration we’ll apply is a composite dental filling.
  • Damaged Tooth Cusp – Your tooth’s cusp is its biting surface. Whether from decay or physical trauma, a damaged cusp may be restored using a porcelain onlay.
  • Damaged Tooth Surface – Though your tooth enamel feels glassy and smooth, your teeth have grooves that often become the site of decay or fracture. To resolve this, we may recommend a porcelain inlay.
  • Extensive Tooth Damage – Where your tooth has multiple types of damage, large fillings or has undergone root canal treatment, we will likely restore the entire visible portion of your tooth with a porcelain dental crown.

We Buy Australia – Porcelain Restorations from Local Labs

For decades, dental professionals have turned to porcelain restorations because of their versatility, fit, durability, and how natural they look. Whether an inlay, onlay or dental crown, we only use the best local dental laboratories for the most timely, precise, and superior quality restorations.

Dental Onlays and Inlays

While composite dental fillings are ideal for treating cavities, a porcelain onlay or inlay can be a complete restoration, especially if your tooth also suffers from surface groove or cusp damage. An inlay is for minor tooth damage, whereas an onlay Is second only to a dental crown in its protective qualities.

We apply inlays and onlays using a similar process where Dr Ibrahim will prepare your tooth and take a scan, using our cutting-edge dental scanner, which is then sent digitally to the lab. Then, when your restoration is ready, he will cement the restoration in place and ensure that it fits seamlessly with your smile.

Dental Crowns Are the Apex Porcelain Restoration

Dr Ibrahim will likely use a dental crown for a more comprehensive dental restoration. This restoration covers your natural tooth on all sides, like a cap that fits snugly over your old tooth. After we design, place and monitor your dental crown, it may protect your tooth for up to a decade or even longer.

Let Us Inform Your Restorative Dental Care in Belmore NSW

A tooth restoration is always preferable to a replacement, and the Dentists @ Belmore want to share your options with you today. We invite you to schedule an appointment to keep your teeth in their best health.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Dentists @ Belmore use leading-edge technology, modern techniques and the skills that come from years of training to provide you with the best dental care found in Belmore and the communities of Canterbury, Lakemba, and Clemton Park, NSW. Our commitment to you is to offer care options and educate you on each of them before we begin any treatment. Part of that education is understanding that some treatments last longer than others.

We Discuss Your Dental Care in Detail

We discuss the success rates of any chosen treatment and offer alternatives when they exist with patients. For example, suppose you need to restore a forward-facing surface of a front tooth. In that case, our dentists may recommend that we supply a dental veneer, a thin shell that we incorporate into your tooth to cover the damaged tooth portions seamlessly.

If you like this option, we will offer you either a composite dental veneer made from the same material as cavity fillings. Or you may choose a porcelain veneer fabricated in a precision lab and then cemented to your tooth. A composite veneer is more cost-effective and lasts several years, while a porcelain dental veneer is more expensive but will be with you for a decade or longer.

You Play a Part in Your Treatment's Longevity

Our team also wants to communicate that it's essential for you to take an active role in maintaining your treatment's results. You can help your treatments last as long as possible through consistent at-home care, regular check-ups, and good lifestyle choices.

Here at The Dentists @ Belmore, we try our best to respect your time and we expect our patients to do the same. Arriving late (more than 15 minutes), short notice cancellations and failure to attend leads to disruptions to our patients and staff.

As a small privately-owned dental practice, we are financially strained when patients miss appointments. We are not a large corporation and we do not treat our patients as numbers.

We like to give our patients the full scope of our knowledge and care, and we like each patient experience to be personalised, as dental care should be. We aim to provide you with an exceptional service at an affordable cost. Chair time lost to no shows or short notice cancellations impacts our ability to run our small business.

It is in ours and our patients’ best interest that we keep lost chair time to a minimum.

We ask our patients to give at least 24 hour notice before cancellation or rescheduling. It is very difficult to fill in these appointments, so please let us know well ahead of time if you need to reschedule.

Holding your appointment time means turning away other patients in urgent need of dental care. Therefore, any missed or short notice cancellations will attract a cancellation fee of $50.

Our cancellation policy is as follows:

  • Our patients are required to pay a $50 holding fee to secure their appointment.
  • The holding fee will be taken off the final cost of your appointment.
  • Cancelling an appointment with more than 24 hour notice is absolutely fine. We can accommodate for this.
  • Failing to attend, rescheduling, or cancelling an appointment with less than 24 hours notice leads to a $50 cancellation fee, which means forfeiting the $50 holding deposit.
  • If you wish to re-book after cancelling within 24 hours, you will be required to pay another $50 holding fee.
  • We always send out an SMS reminder or we call our patients well in advance to confirm the appointment.
  • We reserve the right to ask for the cost of treatment upfront before making another appointment. This is a last resort option only if there is a recurring cancellation pattern.
  • New patients who fail to attend or cancel with less than 24 hours notice on two consecutive occasions will not be rebooked.

For long appointments such as whitening or root canals, we will require a deposit at the time of booking.

Tooth Restorations – Fillings, Inlays, Onlays, Crowns Technology

Intraoral Camera

Imaging technology is among the most impressive advancements in the world of dentistry. What if you could see what your dentist sees in real-time? When you can see something, you can understand it better, and when you can view your teeth, it helps you understand why Dr Ibrahim recommends one treatment over another.

Intraoral cameras consist of a small digital camera attached to the end of a specially-shaped wand. Our dentists can move it around your mouth while images are transmitted to a chairside monitor. This tool allows you to clearly see everything as we describe it to you, pointing out the decay and other damage on the monitor. These images are available when we provide treatment so we can prioritise our work where your teeth most need it.
